Men's Basketball's Scott Schnelle named Academic All-OAC
ADA — Junior center Scott Schnelle (New Bremen) has been selected as a 2011 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference recipient for men's basketball, as voted by the conference faculty athletic representatives.
This is his second second straight year as an Academic All-OAC honoree.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 grade point average, be a starter or key reserve and be in at lease his second year of participation in the sport.
Schnelle, an engineering major, started in all 26 games for the Polar Bears and led the team in points (14.9 ppg), boards (7.9 rpg) and assists (55). He also posted a staggering 40 blocks to finish out the season with 81 career stuffs, placing fourth all-time on the ONU's career blocked shots list.
Earlier this month, Schnelle also garnered All-OAC laurels.
The Polar Bears finished the 2010-11 season 13-13 overall and 10-8 in the OAC.
