This Weeks's Championships: The Ohio Northern women's track and field team will compete at the 2021 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships meet Thursday and Friday at Heidelberg's Horenemann Stadium ... Field events will start at 11 am and running events at 3 pm each day ... All 10 OAC schools are expected to compete at the meet ... The top 8 places will score points in the team standings (10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1) and the top 3 places in each event will earn All-Conference honors ... The Polar Bears are coming off a fourth place finish at the BW OAC Tune-Up meet at Finnie Stadium ... A pair of pole vaulters led the team, as sophomore Anna Schatzle and freshman Olivia Ogg tied for second by clearing 3.23 meters ... Freshman J.J. Herron was second in the 400 in 1:01.09, freshman Hope Stanley was second in the javelin with a toss of 30.66 meters and freshman Natalie Garrett was second in the hammer with a heave of 43.80 meters ... On the national level, the NCAA announced field sizes of 19 individuals and 14 relay teams for the 2021 NCAA Championships May 27-29 at Greensboro, N.C. ... Senior Stella DeWitt is 16th in the long jump (5.60m) ... Six more Polar Bears are within striking range of qualifying in three other events ... Senior Kylie Vestal currently ranks 22nd in the 3,000 steeplechase (11:20.65) ... Junior Kayla Silva is 27th in the 100 (:12.25) and is 44th in the 200 (:25.45) ... In the 10,000-meter run, senior Kathleen Colvin is 39th (38:24.79), junior Tessa Pitcovich is 40th (38:26.58) and junior Rue Whitmore is 46th (38:40.20) ... Sophomore Anna Schatzle is 35th in the pole vault (3.45m).
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 12th season as the head women's track and field coach at ONU … He has a 404-161-3 overall record outdoors, a winning percentage of .714.
