Weekend's Preview: The No. 21st-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team will take to the road for the first time this season, competing at the Bluffton Spiketacular held inside the Sommer Center in Bluffton … The Polar Bears battle Geneva (Pa.) Friday at 5 p.m. before matches against Hanover (Ind.) and Bluffton Saturday at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively … Northern began the 2019 season this past weekend hosting the 41st annual ONU Invitational where the team posted a 2-2 record … The Polar Bears toppled then-No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan and Transylvania (Ky.) by scores of 3-0 and fell to then-No. 2 Calvin (Mich.) and then-No. 6 Wittenberg by scores of 3-1 and 3-2, respectively … Senior All-American middle hitter Chelsea Huppert was named Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after logging 43 kills and 12 blocks in four matches … Freshmen outside hitters Jasmine Wolfgram and Madison Kern recorded 29 and 26 kills, respectively, while Kern also added 12 blocks … Senior defensive specialist McKenna Hostetler owned a team-best 91 digs, and junior setter Katie Wade held a team-high 113 assists over the weekend … Geneva enters Friday's match with a perfect 5-0 record, while Hanover is 3-1 overall and Bluffton 1-3.
