Volleyball moves up to No. 21 in first weekly AVCA Coaches Poll

ADA — Ohio Northern's moved up two spots to No. 21 nationally in the first weekly AVCA Coaches Poll on Tuesday. 

The Polar Bears (2-2 overall) collected 390 points, 182 more than in the preseason poll that had ONU tied for 23rd.

The top five teams remained the same as Emory (Ga.) topped the poll with 1,931 points and 69 first-place votes, while Calvin (Mich.) and Juniata (Pa.) rounded out the top three. 

ONU opened its season with sweeps of then-No. 13 Illinois Wesleyan, and Transylvania (Ky.) as part of the 41st Annual ONU Invitational Aug. 30-31. 

Northern also dropped a 4-set decision to No. 2 Calvin (Mich.) and a 5-set thriller to then-No. 6 Wittenberg.

The Polar Bears will return to action Friday and Saturday with three matches at the Bluffton Spiketacular.
