This Weekend's Preview: The No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern women's volleyball team breaks from Ohio Athletic Conference action this weekend as they compete in the 2018 Midwest Invitational ... Match times are set for 5/7:30 p.m. Friday evening and 11 a.m./1 p.m. on Saturday at the Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex in Grand Rapids, Michigan ... The Polar Bears will open the tournament Friday with matches against Elmhurst (Ill.) and #1 Calvin (Mich.), who will serve as the tournament hosts ... They will conclude their weekend stay with matches against Susquehanna (Pa.) and #16 Hope (Mich.) on Saturday ... ONU enters the weekend sporting a 14-4 overall record and is coming off a 25-8, 25-11, 25-21 straight-set sweep against Wilmington on Tuesday night ... Junior Chelsea Huppert and freshman Madi Ellis guided the Polar Bear offense as the pair contributed nine and eight kills, respectively ... Freshman setter Kiki Carle earned her first career start, registering a career-best 22 assists through two sets of play ... Defensively, Carle and Huppert would lead the team with two blocks each while junior defensive specialist/libero McKenna Hostetler paced the team with 13 digs ... Through 18 matches this season, Huppert leads the team and is third in the OAC with 224 kills while junior McKenna Jordan is second on the squad with 157 kills ... Huppert also leads the OAC with a .393 hitting percentage, while Ellis is fifth at .321 ... Sophomore Madison Broering leads the team and sits ninth in the OAC with 289 digs while sophomore setter Katie Wade is third in the OAC in assists and ranks 10th nationally with an average of 10.80 per set ... As a team, Ohio Northern sits second in the conference with a .252 hitting percentage and leads the league with an average of 18.63 digs per set ... Huppert's current career hitting percentage of .350 is the third-best in ONU history ... Wade ranks seventh all-time in ONU history with 2,017 career assists.
