Preview: No. 19-ranked Ohio Northern will kick off its 2018 season Friday afternoon as it plays host to the 40th Annual ONU Invitational ... The tournament, which features six teams, will see five matches played on Friday afternoon and six contests on Saturday ... Northern will play the first match of the tournament at 2 pm on Friday as they take on Thomas More (Ky.) ... Junior All-American middle hitter Chelsea Huppert will look to lead Northern this season after posting a solid sophomore campaign ... The senior returns to the team in 2017 after being named First Team All-OAC, First Team All-Great Lakes Region and AVCA Honorable Mention All-America ... Huppert led the team with 407 kills and 131 total blocks last season, which ranked eighth nationally ... Junior McKenna Jordan also returns to the squad after being named 2nd Team All-OAC in 2017 ... Jordan racked up 402 kills last season to finish second on the team while also registering 143 digs and 36 total blocks ... Senior Michaela Sharlow and juniors Kristin Langston, Madison Broering and McKenna Hostetler return as the top defensive specialists/liberos from the 2017 season ... After taking on Thomas More on Friday, Northern will take on #12 Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) at 6 pm to close out the first day of the tournament ... Northern will open the second day of the tournament with a 10:30 am match against area-rival Defiance before taking on case Western Reserve at 12:30.
