ADA — The Ohio Northern wrestling team swept all 10 weight classes to post an impressive 48-0 victory over Otterbein on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 8-9 overall and get back to even in the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 2-2 record.

The Cardinals fall to 6-5, 1-4.

Sophomore Aidan Pierobon (Rochester Hills, Mich./Stoney Creek), junior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland) and sophomore Nate Barcaskey (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) each registered falls to lead Ohio Northern.

Pierobon got a pin in 2:02 at 141 to extend the Ohio Northern lead to 15-0, Davidson picked up his team-best 10th pin of the season at 174 to give the hosts a 34-0 lead and Barcaskey wrapped up the match with a pin in 4:45 at Heavyweight.

Freshman Schuyler Caprella (Harrod/Allen East) and senior Alex Bair (Centerville) each had tech falls for ONU.

Caprella picked up his team-best seventh tech fall of the season with a 17-2 victory at 149 and Bair posted a 16-0 tech fall victory at 184 to make it 39-0.

Seniors Gavin Nelson (Oregon/Clay) and senior Seth Meyer (Defiance) had back-to-back major decisions at 157 and 165 to clinch the dual meet victory for the Polar Bears. Nelson won 12-2 and Meyer won 11-2 to turn the 20-0 lead to a 28-0 advantage.

Senior Brad Taton (Mentor/Lake Catholic) made it 9-0 ONU with a 6-5 decision at 133 and senior Evan Hickey (Wilmington) won by decision 5-1 at 197 to make it 42-0 Polar Bears.

"I thought we wrestled well tonight," ONU head coach Ron Beaschler. "We are getting healthy at the right time and it was nice to get more of our starters back on the mat. We are wrestling well at the right time of the year and it showed tonight."

Ohio Northern took a quick 6-0 lead with a forfeit at 125 pounds.

The shutout was the first for Ohio Northern since Dec. 21, 2016, when the ONU posted a 50-0 win over Greensboro (N.C.) and a 55-0 win over Southern Virginia at the Washington & Lee (Va.) Duals.

The Polar Bears will compete as a JV squad this weekend at the Baldwin Wallace John Summa Invitational and will return to varsity action next Tuesday with a home dual with Muskingum on Senior Night.
