ADA — The Ohio Northern wrestling team moved up one spot to No. 17 in the seventh National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll for the 2012-13 season.
The Polar Bears (14-2 overall, 3-0 Ohio Athletic Conference), under 25th-year head coach Ron Beaschler, are one of only two Ohio Athletic Conference teams in the poll, which ranks the top 30 teams in the country.
Northern was ranked No. 18 in the sixth poll, was No. 19 in the fourth and fifth polls, was No. 17 in the third poll, was No. 13 in the second poll and was No. 10 in the first poll.
Individually, senior defending national champion and three-time All-American Kyle Kwiat remains ranked No. 1 at 174 pounds.
Kwiat is 28-3 on the season and leads the nation with 16 tech falls this year.
Ohio Northern will return to action Tuesday with an OAC dual match at home against Baldwin Wallace on Senior Night at the ONU Sports Center.
