Senior Mick Letcher named OAC Wrestler of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Mick Letcher was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Jan. 9-15.

Letcher went 5-0 with three pins and a major decision last week in the 157-pound weight class, helping the No. 24-ranked Polar Bears to a 4-1 record.

Letcher got a pin as ONU opened its OAC schedule with a 45-7 victory over Baldwin-Wallace, then went 4-0 with two pins as Ohio Northern finished third at the 20-team Lycoming (Pa.) Duals over the weekend.

He helped his squad defeat No. 29 Thiel (Pa.) 39-6, No. 12 York (Pa.) 19-16, and No. 7 Cortland State (N.Y.) 20-18.

Letcher is 15-3 on the season and currently ranks 13th all-time at ONU with a 92-32 career record.

This is the second time that Letcher has won the honor and the sixth time this season that an ONU wrestler has been named the OAC Wrestler of the Week.

The Polar Bears are 8-4 on the season and will travel to No. 14 Mount Union Tuesday evening for a key OAC battle.
