Wrestlers remain ranked No. 26 in fifth weekly Brute/Adidas NWCA poll
ADA — The Ohio Northern wrestling team remained ranked No. 26 in the fifth Brute-Adidas National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll.
The Polar Bears (4-3 Overall, 0-0 Ohio Athletic Conference) had a very successful Christmas break, winninng at NCAA Division I foe Davidson (N.C.) 28-19 and finishing seventh of 16 teams at the Citrus Open in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Wartburg (Iowa) remains in the top spot, Augsburg (Minn.) is second, Ithaca (N.Y.) is third and Wisconsin-LaCrosse is fourth.
The teams ranked 11-30 remained the same for the second consecutive poll.
Individually, junior Kyle Kwiat remains ranked second in the country at 174 pounds. The two-time All-American is undefeated in the weight class at 12-0 so far this season, and is 16-0 overall with six pins, six tech falls and one major decision.
Senior Billy Painter is still ranked fifth at 165. He is 13-5 overall with two tech falls and four major decisions.
Ohio Northern returns to action Jan. 10 when Ohio Athletic Conference foe Baldwin-Wallace comes to the ONU Sports Center for a 7:30 p.m. dual.
