Emily Gedert runner-up, Ohio Northern finishes third at 2011 OAC Women's Golf Championships

ALLIANCE — Junior Emily Gedert finished runner-up individually to lead Ohio Northern to a third place finish at the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships Saturday and Sunday at Tannenhauf Golf Course.

Gedert fired a 21-over par 80-85—165 to tie for second out of 42 golfers on the par-72, 5899-yard course.

The Polar Bears (59-21-1) finished third with a 342-343—685.

Senior Ashley Johnson finished tied for seventh with an 85-83—168, freshman Lizzy Merk was 11th with an 85-85—170, senior Ellen Hazelet tied for 22nd with a 94-90—184 and senior Lauren Miller was 27th with a 92-98—190.

Baldwin-Wallace rallied from 17 shots back to win the team title with a 348-323—671, Otterbein was second with a 331-343—674 and Mount Union was fourth with a 348-349—697.

Otterbein's Catherine Brunoehler won Medalist honors with an 81-83—164.
