FRANKLIN (Ind.) — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell to Franklin 46-44 in the night cap of the Franklin Tip-Off Classic.
The Polar Bears fall to 1-1 overall, while Franklin improves to 2-0.
Ohio Northern was led by Freshman Amy Bullimore who had double-double with team-highs of 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The two teams exchanged points for most of the first half as the score was tied on four different occasions.
Franklin out-scored ONU 8-3 in the last four minutes of the first half to go into halftime leading 31-23.
The Grizzles started the second half by scoring seven of the first nine points to extend its lead to 38-25.
A 9-0 run late in the second half led by Bullimore pulled the Polar Bears back within three, 42-39.
Sophomore Angela Tesny made a pair of free-throws to tie the game at 44 with just under a minute to go.
However, a late foul by the Polar Bears and a pair of made free-throws from Franklin's Kayle Comer was just enough to secure the win.
The Polar Bears out rebounded the Grizzles 41-35.
The Polar Bears are next in action Wednesday as they host Kenyon at 7:30 pm in its home opener at the ONU Sports Center.
