UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Behind a double-double from sophomore Cenzie Yoder, the Ohio Northern women's basketball team increased its winning streak to six games with a 67-55 win over John Carroll at the DeCarlo Center on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, ONU improves to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while JCU falls to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in league play.

Yoder finished with 12 points and a career-high 15 rebounds to earn her first double-double of the season and third of her career, while junior Morgan Dumbaugh scored a team-high 15 points.

Senior Kara Dysert chipped in with 13 points and nine rebounds and junior Katie Mengos added eight points and eight boards.

ONU dominated the rebounding battle, grabbing 48 boards compared to 20 for JCU.

Leading 20-19, freshman Jordan Kimes capped off an 8-0 run with four straight points to give ONU a 28-19 lead with 3:25 left in the first half.

Dumbaugh then scored ONU's last five points of the half, giving the Polar Bears a 35-26 lead into the break.

After ONU jumped out to a 13-point lead early in the half, the Blue Streaks were able to cut the lead to 49-40 with 9:23 to play.

Dumbaugh and Dysert scored back-to-back baskets before junior Joanna Snyder sank a pair of free throws, giving ONU a 55-40 lead at the 7:01 mark.

The Polar Bears resisted every John Carroll comeback attempt, as the Blue Streaks were unable to cut the deficit to less than ten points.

Emilee Ritchie scored a game-high 17 points for the Blue Streaks, and Melissa Spahar added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Northern shot 27-of-55 (49.1 percent) from the field and 11-of-12 from the charity stripe (91.7 percent), compared to 21-of-59 (35.6 percent) and 8-of-11 (72.7 percent) for JCU.

The Polar Bears will be back in action on next Saturday as they host Marietta in a league game at 3 p.m.
