ALLENDALE, Mich. & WESTERVILLE — Senior All-American Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) shattered the 3,000-meter run school record Friday evening, and the Polar Bears wound up seventh in an 18-team field at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday afternoon, headlining the fourth weekend in the Ohio Northern men's track and field 2019 indoor season.

On Friday evening, McVey rewrote the Ohio Northern record books with a career-best 8:16.99 clocking in the 3,000-meter run at the GVSU Big Meet, held at Grand Valley State (Mich.). He trimmed nine seconds off his own school record and moved into fifth on the NCAA Division III performance list, pending other results from around the country this weekend.

Overall, McVey placed 10th in a 48-man field that included athletes from NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions.

Inside the Clements Recreation Center Saturday afternoon, freshmen pole vault specialists Andrew Buderer (Oak Harbor) and Luke Shellhaas (Greenville/Versailles) both cleared 4.36 meters to take second and third place, respectively, to lead the Ohio Northern men's track and field team to a seventh-place finish at the All-Ohio Championships.

ONU posted 44.5 points to claim seventh, while Otterbein and Mount Union tied for first with 124 points.
