This Weekend's Preview: The No. 30-ranked Ohio Northern men's track and field team will compete in the All-Ohio Championships in Westerville on Saturday afternoon ... Northern fell three spots in the third weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association power rankings to No. 30 ... The All-Ohio meet will kick off at 12 pm with the men's long jump, pole vault and weight throw ... Running events will begin at noon with the women's distance medley relay ... The Polar Bears enter the meet after competing in annual Joe Banks Invitational last weekend ... Northern finished third of 13 teams at the meet ... Junior Ian McVey and sophomore Jared Butcher each posted first place finishes to lead the Polar Bears in the meet ... McVey took first place in the 1-mile run in 4:17.50 before Butcher won the 500-meter dash in 1:07.32 ... In the 3,000-meter run, junior Spencer Schulze finished second in 9:00.16, while freshman hurdler Colin McCullough finished second in the 60-meter hurdles, narrowly missing the school record in :8.63 ... Senior Matt Molinaro competed at the Camel City Elite Races in Winston-Salem, N.C. and was the first collegian to cross the finish line in the 800-meter run ... The senior finished third overall in the event as he was edged by Eliud Rutto and Drew Piazza, both professional competitors in the event ... Molinaro bested his collegiate counterparts in Div. I-foes Stefano Migliorati and Ryan Hastings in the event, finishing in 1:51.71 ... His time is currently the fastest time in the country among Div. III competitors ... Molinaro, along with McVey and senior Bobby Borger will compete at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet on Friday afternoon ... Molinaro will compete in the 800-meter run, while McVey and Borger compete in the 5,000-meter run.
