Brancheau, Ike win events to lead Men's Outdoor Track & Field at Marv Frye Invitational

DELAWARE -- Junior Ryan Brancheau and sophomore Brandon Ike each won events to lead the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track & field team to a third place tie at the Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday evening on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan.

The Polar Bears (6-2-1 overall) finished with 83 points, tying Case Western.

Ohio Wesleyan won the title with 154 points, Albion (Mich.) was second with 119.50, with Northern and Case Western finishing third.

Brancheau cleared 1.93 meters (6-4.00) in the high jump and Ike cleared 4.45 meters (14-7.50) in the pole vault.

Freshman Dan Arkin recorded a second place finish in the javelin with a throw of 47.08 meters (154-05).

Freshman Adam Berry notched a second place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:03.24 and freshman Kase Schalois was fifth in the 5,000-meter run, crossing in 15:45.60.

Freshman Lucas Shumate finished fourth in the hammer throw, covering 45.49 meters (149-03) and junior Lance Hartman was fourth in the discus with a throw of 40.59 meters (133-02).

Sophomore Jojuan Fisher notched a fourth place finish in the 100-meter dash in 11.07 seconds and sophomore Robbie Brinkman was fifth in the 110-hurdles in 16.06 seconds.

Ohio Northern will return to action on April 12, when it returns to Ohio Wesleyan to take part in the All-Ohio Championships.
