AKRON — The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team positioned itself in the top three after Day 1 of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Thursday inside Ocasek Natatorium. The Polar Bears tallied 152 points behind many top-10 swims.

Sophomore Jeremy Adams (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) led the way for ONU. He took fourth in the 200-yard individual medley, recording a time of 1:54.41. Adams also swam a leg of the 400-yard medley relay — comprised of sophomores Justin DeLano (Englewood/Northmont) and Jackson Stanley (Beavercreek) and freshman Logan Randall (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) — which clocked in at 3:22.96, placing them third.

The 200-yard freestyle relay touched third, as well. The team of junior Zach Ayres (Chillicothe), DeLano, sophomore Jack Kessler (Catawba Island/Port Clinton) and freshman Dillon Brady (Cleveland/St. Edward) registered a time of 1:25.99.

Freshman Calob Cope (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) boasted an individual fourth-place finish of his own. He swam a 4:40.96 in the 500-yard freestyle.
