Men's Basketball falls at Heidelberg 70-51

TIFFIN — The Ohio Northern men's basketball team took to Heidelberg on Wednesday evening, dropping the contest 70-51 at the Sieberling Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears (4-8 overall, 0-5 OAC) were led by 14 points from freshman C.J. Napier (Miamisburg/Bishop Fenwick).

Sophomore Brandon Waugh (Columbus/Northland) added 11 points and senior Austin Allemeier (Elida) chipped in nine point, nine rebounds, and four assists.

Senior Caleb Bryan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) had nine points and five rebounds off the bench.

Emmanuel Perdue netted 30 points to lead the Student Princes (5-7 overall, 3-2 OAC).

Ohio Northern held a 42-34 advantage on the glass, but turned the ball over 23 times.

ONU raced out to an early 11-5 lead before Heidelberg took a 17-14 lead with 12:11 to go in the first half.

The Student Princes closed the first half on a 17-7 to lead 34-21 at the break.

A 3-pointer by Waugh to open the second half drew Northern to within 10.

The Polar Bears came no closer, though, as Heidelberg held an 11-16 point lead for most of the second half before a late lay-up and foul extended the margin to 19.

ONU was 16-for-48 (33.3%) from the floor and 5-for-23 (21.7%) from 3-point range. HU was held to 23-for-62 (37.1%) from the field and was 11-for-29 (37.9%) from deep.

Ohio Northern returns to the court with a home game against Muskingum on Jan. 11 at 2 p.m.
