Meagan Brennan earns All-America and All-Region honors

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Meagan Brennan became the first Lady Polar Bear golfer to earn Duramed FUTURES Tour National Golf Coaches Association Division III All-American honors as announced at the NGCA Awards Banquet Wednesday evening.

She was also named to the All-Great Lakes Region team for the first time in her career. All voting was conducted by coaches in the NGCA.

“These are great honors for Meagan and its a wonderful cap to her awesome career,” said ONU head coach Stacey Hairston.”

Brennan had a tremendous senior season, finishing first a remarkable seven times and she currently has the second-lowest single season stroke average in school history at 82.4, trailing only her 81.9 from last season.

This year, Brennan has carded six rounds in the 70s and 11 of her 16 rounds have been under 84. She has also finished no worse than tied for 13th in any of her 13 tournaments, with 11 top-five finishes.

She finished third at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championship this spring and earned her fourth consecutive First Team All-OAC honors.

The Mason, Ohio native, fired a career-low and school-record 73 in the first round of the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling on April 19. She then carded a 78 in the second round to finish first in a field that consisted of nine ranked teams.

Brennan currently holds the single-season and career scoring records at ONU as well as the 14-lowest 18-hole rounds and the seven-lowest 36-hole tournament scores.

After two rounds at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships, Brennan is tied for 42nd after rounds of 79 and 85. She will compete in the final two rounds Thursday and Friday.
